Like his father, Captain Fred Abner, Captain Tom Abner grew up on the Chesapeake Bay learning all there was to know about fishing and the Bay itself from his father and his own personal experiences.

Captain Tom began his lifelong career on the Bay in 1968. After two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Marine Corps, he couldn't resist his love for the Bay so he came back after the war and began oystering, charter fishing, crabbing, diving and drift netting on the Bay.

He has a witty personality and is one of the most respected Captains on the Bay.
