The Chesapeake Bay is known world wide as one of the hottest inshore fishing spots on the Atlantic Coast. Bordering Virginia and Maryland the Bay is a vast saltwater basin that offers plentiful marine resources including the legendary striped bass that the local Chesapeake Bay fishing charters or guides target almost year round, save a few chilly months during the relatively short winters. In the middle Bay area most Maryland fishing charter Captains also target large doormat flounder, big gray trout, and a wide range of other bottom dwelling species that roam the Chesapeake Bay.

Chesapeake Bay Fishing Boats
Like the Dockoar the TamShell fishing boat works the entire middle bay region for all the local species. Run by Captain Abner, either Tom, Frank, or Fred you can expect a safe and successful day charter fishing Chesapeake Bay as these guys are professionals with master fishing and boating skills aquired over many years of fishing this world famous saltwater body. Both Tamshell fishing boats are licensed to carry a party of up to six anglers while the Dockoar can fish a much larger party, up to 26 anglers.
Dockoar Charters and Tamshell Charters I and II operate out of Chesapeake Beach. Our fishing grounds for the mid Bay region of Maryland range from Annapolis around the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to Deale and Solomons Island farther south. We fish both shores including Tilghman Island on the Maryland Eastern Shore. We even offer a dinner cruise to Harrison's Chesapeake House on Tilghman Island where you can enjoy a leisurely cruise to the restaurant on one of these fine Chesapeake Bay fishing boats.

Types Of Fishing
We fish for most species in the Bay and you are subject to catch anything from a perch or spot on the smaller end of the scale to a striper or black drum at the large end of the scale. On a few occasions what you are allowed to fish for and keep depends on seasonal regulations but for most of the year we fish for:

Striper fishing - a.k.a. Rockfish or Striped Bass
Black drum fishing Drifting for flounder Spanish mackerel and Bluefish Spot Croaker and White Perch Trout fishing - weakfish, gray trout, sea trout -
Occasionally other Bay fish species are caught.
